Easy Bagels
These easy bagels are SO yum and SO easy. They are made with two core ingredients: self-raising flour and yoghurt. These are ingredients you probably have laying around your house most of the time which means that you can always have bagels in 30 minutes if you fancy them!
Prep Time 35 minutes mins
Total Time 35 minutes mins
- 150 g Self-raising flour ensure this includes baking powder and ideally salt - see directions to make this yourself if necessary
- 245 g Plain yoghurt
- 2 tablespoon Milk/ oil/ 'egg' wash
- 4 teaspoon Seeds
Pre-heat your oven to 180°C/ 356°F. In a bowl, combine your flour and yoghurt. Ensure that your self-raising flour has baking powder in it (and ideally salt). If yours doesn't have baking powder in it, you can easily make a self-raising flour. You will need 1 cup/ 150g plain white flour 1½ teaspoon baking powder and ½ teaspoon salt to make this recipe. Once your dough has come together, put it onto a floured surface and knead briefly. You may need to scatter more flour on at this stage. Then, divide into four and form each section into a bagel shape.
Place each for bagel shape onto a lined baking tray. Then, use a brush to provide a wash for the bagels. If you are adding seeds to your bagel (recommended), brush on a little bit of milk and then scatter the seeds on top. You can also use 'egg' wash or a bit of oil. Bake for 25 minutes, until brown and crunchy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside.
Remove the bagels from the oven and leave to cool. Then, slice them up, add your toppings and enjoy!
