This screams christmas. Mulled wine has such beautiful, aromatic spices, whilst pears are wonderfully sweet. These mulled wine pear tartlets are an easy, delicious treat to have this holiday season.
These tartlets have a base of crumbly, golden puff pastry topped with sweet sugar. The centre has beautifully poached sliced pears. The pears are poached briefly in mulled wine and additional spices like a cinnamon stick and cloves. After this brief poaching, they are placed on top of the puff pastry. The remaining mulled wine is then reduced to form a sticky caramel which is drizzled on top of the pears. Honestly, these are a dream come true!
I think this is a great snack/ small treat. However, this recipe could absolutely be used as a main dessert. Served with vanilla bean ice cream and a further drizzle of mulled wine caramel, this would be sure to impress your guests!
If you wanted a more show-stopping dessert, you could make this into one big tart rather than tartlets. Instead of cutting the puff pastry up, simply line a whole baking tray with the pastry. Then, follow the same steps as with the tartlets, adding the pears and mulled wine caramel. I might do a big version soon as it's making me want it simply speaking to you about it!
I used store-bought puff pastry for this recipe as it's 1000000x easier and I wanted this recipe to be a quick one for you guys. However, if you did fancy giving yourself a challenge, you could definitely home make your puff pastry and use that in lieu of the store-bought version.
I hope you love these little mulled wine pear tartlets as much as I do - they are SO easy and quick to make. Please let me know if you have any questions about this in the comments section below. Also, be sure to let me know how you get on with these. I love to hear from you about my recipes and see all of your beautiful recreations!

Mulled Wine Pear Tartlets
Ingredients
- 2 Pears
- ½ bottle Mulled wine
- 1 Cinnamon stick
- 1 tablespoon Cloves
- 1 roll Puff pastry
- 5 tablespoon Sugar granulated
- 1 scoop Ice cream per serving - optional
Instructions
- Pre-heat your oven to 180°C/ 356°F. Slice your pears into thin slices, in whatever shape you want!
- Place the mulled wine into a saucepan. Add the cinnamon stick and cloves. Then add all of your sliced pears and 2 tablespoon sugar. Mix together and then place on a medium heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Simply roll out your puff pastry and cut it into 9 equal slices. Place them on a large baking tray with baking paper. You may need to use multiple baking trays. I fit 3 on one baking tray!
- Using a fork/ spoon, take the pears out of the mulled wine poaching liquid and add them to the tartlets, leaving a space around the edge of the tartlet. I added about 5 slices of pear to each tartlet. After you have added all of your pears, add the remaining sugar to the edge of the tartlets (on the puff pastry).
- Place the tartlets into the oven for 19 minutes, until the puff pastry is golden and crispy.
- Plate your tartlets up with some vanilla bean ice cream and serve whilst they are still warm! I hope you love them.
