These are..... amaaaazing. To be honest, I am a sucker for any cinnamon roll, but these cinnamon apple rolls are really something. They have caramelised apples, cinnamon and sugar, combined with the softest, fluffiest dough ever. When they are fresh out of the oven and still warm and oozing with caramelised cinnamon, they are a dream come true. The perfect cinnamon rolls in my eyes!
To make this cinnamon apple rolls recipe even better, the whole process takes around an hour to make. ONE hour! This is unheard of in regard to cinnamon rolls which normally take hours and hours to proof. Some recipes even recommend proving the dough overnight. This is great if you have the time but if you want the same, delicious cinnamon roll experience in a fraction of this time, this recipe is 100% for you.
Ingredients
Within this recipe, there is a a sweet vanilla frosting to pour on top of the rolls. This stage is optional but absolutely recommended. The frosting is almost custard-like in flavour which, combined with the apples and cinnamon, reminds me of a crumble type experience. It is dreamy! The frosting also ensures the dough stays nice and soft which is a win.
Instructions
You are going to make yoour dough in a standing mixer before proving for a small 30 minutes. Then you will make your apple filling, roll the dough out and spread it across. you will then roll it up, cut into individual roll shapes and bake for 20 minutes. Then, spread your delicious icing on top and devour whilst still warm! I recommend reheating them if you eat them in the days after when they are not fresh. Putting them in the microwave for 20 seconds will make them seem as though they are fresh from the oven!
Put the rolls in a baking tray
Get them out of the pan
Pour your icing on top
Enjoy
Equipment
You will definitely need a rolling pin for this recipe to roll the dough out into a rectangular shape before adding the apples and cinnamon sugar. Further, it is really useful to have a standing mixer with a dough hook. I use this to ensure the dough comes together beautifully. If you don't have this, you could need with your hands, it will just take longer and be messier!
I hope you love these cinnamon apple rolls as much as I do. Please let me know if you have any questions or how you get on in the comments section below. Enjoy!

Cinnamon Apple Rolls
Ingredients
For the Dough
- 700 g Flour plain, white, all-purpose
- 14 g Yeast quick, fast, dry
- 110 g Sugar white, granulated
- 480 g Soy milk
- 115 g Butter melted
- ½ teaspoon Salt
For the Filling
- 3 Apples medium sized
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
- 4 tbsp Soft light brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Butter
- 4 tablespoon Sugar granulated, white
- 1 tablespoon Cinnamon powder
For the Frosting
- 230 g Icing sugar
- 2 tablespoon Butter melted
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
- 4 tablespoon Soy milk
Instructions
- Warm your milk up until it is luke warm (either in the stove or in the microwave). Once your milk is the right temperature, pour it into a large bowl. Add the sugar and the yeast. Combine together with a whisk very briefly, for 1-2 seconds. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
- After the five minutes, add the melted butter, 600g / 5 cups flour and salt to the yeast bowl. Spoon it together (it will be quite wet and will look lumpy at this stage). Then, add your dough to a standing mixer with a dough mixer attached. Place it on a slow speed and allow the dough to come together in the mixer. Add the rest of the flour (100g / 1 cup) as it mixes. A dough ball should form and the dough should pull away from the sides of the mixer. When it does, you can stop the mixer. Add slightly more flour if needed. Once ready, cover your bowl with a towel and let it rise for 30 minutes. Ideally let the dough rise in a warm area.
- Pre-heat your oven to 180°C/ 356°F.
- Chop your apples into small cubes. Add 1 tablespoon of butter to a frying pan on a medium-high heat and let it melt. Add the apples and let them fry for a couple of minutes. Then, add the cinnamon and light brown sugar. Allow the sugar to melt and come together with the apples. Then set this aside.
- After the 30 minutes is up, flour a clean surface generously. Put the dough onto the surface then scatter some more flour on top. Use a rolling pin to roll the dough out into a large rectangular shape which is around 1-2cm thick.
- Add the apples to the dough evenly. If the apples have released too much water, only spoon out the apple chunks onto the dough (not the liquid it is sat in) so that it doesn't get too wet. Then, scatter the cinnamon sugar on top, evenly. Once this is done, roll the dough up!
- Cut the rolled dough into 9 even portions. I cut the ends off and don't use these as they aren't very pretty! If you use the ends, you should have about 11 individual rolls. Add them to a greased baking tray. Bake for 20 minutes.
- In a bowl, combine the icing sugar, vanilla, milk and melted butter with a whisk. Set aside.
- When the cinnamon apple rolls are out of the oven, pour the frosting on top whilst they are still warm. Then, devour! I hope you love these as much as I do.
